Scheduled jobs

The jobs that Relay runs on a schedule, when they start, what they cost and how to turn them off.

Relay can run some checks on a schedule and tell you what it finds. Open Project settings → Automation to see each job, its schedule and its run history.

Scheduled jobs use no credits. They never change your site, approve a change or confirm a deployment. You still make every decision.

The jobs

JobStartsDefaultWhat it does
Opportunity refreshWhen you connect Search ConsoleWeekly, 06:00 UTCRuns the Search Console analysis. Tells you about new items with priority 50 or more. Daily needs a paid plan.
Traffic watchWhen you connect Search ConsoleDaily, 07:00 UTCCompares search clicks in the last 7 days with the 4 weeks before them. Paid plans only.
Recommendation re-checkWhen you connect Search ConsoleWeekly, 08:00 UTCCounts open items that the latest analysis no longer found. It changes no status.
Measurement refreshWhen you start tracking a changeDaily, 09:00 UTCRefreshes each tracked change once a day until its result is final.
Deployment checkWhen you start tracking a changeDaily, 10:00 UTCLooks for deployment signals on merged changes. Tells you when it finds one. You still confirm the deployment.
Audit follow-upAfter each site auditOnce per auditTells you about new critical issues on pages that get search impressions. Then refreshes the analysis when it is due.

A job turns on only once. If you turn a job off, connecting Search Console again or tracking another change does not turn it back on.

Traffic alerts

Traffic watch tells you when:

  • Site clicks in the last 7 days fell by 25% or more, and by 100 clicks or more.
  • A page lost 30% or more of its clicks, and 30 clicks or more. The alert lists at most 10 pages.

Both compare the last 7 days with the 28 days before them, scaled to 7 days. When Search Console has missing dates, the job skips the comparison and logs "Incomplete data".

Whose permissions a job uses

A job runs with the permissions of the member who last changed it. When you change a job, it runs as you. If that member leaves the organization or loses the owner or administrator role, the job skips its runs and posts a notification. To fix it, an owner or administrator saves the job again.

The audit follow-up runs as the member who started the audit.

Only owners and administrators can change a job.

Notifications

The bell in the sidebar shows what the jobs found. Each notification links to the page it is about. Click Mark all read to clear the count. Each member has their own read state.

Turn a job off

  1. Open Project settings → Automation.
  2. Turn off the switch next to the job.

To change the time or interval, click Edit. Times are in UTC.

Run history

The Automation tab shows the last 20 runs with their status and summary. Click Logs to see at most 50 log lines for a run. Relay deletes runs, logs and notifications after 180 days.

Self-hosted installs do not run scheduled jobs unless the operator sets them up. The tab then says "Scheduled jobs are not available on this installation."
