Add Relay's MCP connection and SEO skills to Codex CLI and Codex in the ChatGPT desktop app.

Codex CLI

1. Connect Relay and sign in:

codex mcp add relay --url https://relay.playbookmedia.io/mcp
codex mcp login relay

2. Add the SEO skills:

npx skills add https://github.com/PlaybookMediaLLC/open-seo/tree/main/plugins/openseo/skills --skill '*' --agent codex

Restart Codex, then ask:

Use Relay to check my connection and list my projects.

This check is free. Then ask Codex to use SEO Coach.

The easiest way is to open Codex, start a new chat, and paste the setup prompt. To do it by hand:

Open Codex → Settings → MCP servers → Add server.
Name it relay, choose Streamable HTTP, and enter https://relay.playbookmedia.io/mcp.
Save, and select Restart when asked.
Select Authenticate for Relay and approve the sign-in.
Start a new Codex chat and run the connection check above.

A local Codex setup does not connect ChatGPT on the web. For that, see the ChatGPT guide.

"Authorization server response missing required issuer": update Codex to 0.147.0 or later, or use an API key.
Tools do not appear: restart Codex and start a new chat.
