Connect Google Search Console
Give Relay read-only access to your Search Console data, and fix the common setup problems.
Relay finds opportunities from your real search performance, so Search Console is the most important connection.
Before you start
- Your site must be a property in Google Search Console.
- You must sign in to Google with an account that can see that property. A Full or Restricted user is enough, because Relay only reads data.
If your site is not in Search Console yet, add it there first. A Domain property (for example example.com) covers every subdomain and protocol. Google verifies a Domain property with a DNS record. A URL prefix property (for example https://www.example.com/) covers only that address.
Connect it
- In Relay, open your project and go to GSC Insights or the dashboard's setup step.
- Select Connect Google Search Console.
- Choose the Google account that can see your property, and approve read-only access.
- Pick the property that matches your project's site.
Relay requests read-only access (webmasters.readonly). It cannot change anything in Search Console.
When data appears
Search Console data is usually two to three days behind. A new property can take a few days to collect enough data for opportunities.
Fix common problems
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Your property is not in the list | Sign in with the Google account that has access to the property, or ask the property owner to add that account as a user. |
| You see the property but no data | The property may be new, or it may be a different version of the site (for example http:// instead of https://). Prefer a Domain property. |
| Google warns that the app is unverified | Select Advanced, then continue to Relay. Google shows this while Relay's access review is in progress. |
| You want to stop sharing data | Disconnect Search Console in Relay, or remove Relay at myaccount.google.com/permissions. |
Google Analytics
Connecting Google Analytics is optional. It adds landing-page and conversion data to reports. The steps are the same, and access is read-only (analytics.readonly).
